Rhys is the Founder and Director of Tropical Roofing, the leading roofing company based in Cairns, Queensland. With over a decade of hands-on experience in the roofing and construction industry, Rhys is well known for his commitment to quality craftsmanship, customer satisfaction, and innovative problem-solving on and off the roof.

Since launching the company in 2017, Rhys has built Tropical Roofing from the ground up—starting as a one-man operation with a clear vision: to deliver top-tier roofing solutions with integrity, professionalism, and genuine care for clients. Under Rhys’ leadership, the company has grown into a trusted name in Far North Queensland, known for reliable service and outstanding results across residential, commercial, and insurance-based projects.

Rhys brings a practical, no-nonsense approach to every job, supported by a strong understanding of building codes, safety compliance, and efficient project management. Rhys leads a team of skilled tradesmen with the same values when he built the business - hard work, honesty, and pride in the finished product.

When Rhys isn’t on the tools or running site operations, he’ll be overseeing project planning, quoting, and mentoring the next generation of roofers. Rhys’ goal remains the same as day one: to leave a lasting impact—one roof at a time.

Supporting the family business with her Husband, Rhys, by managing a wide range of administrative and operational tasks. Tara’s role includes preparing and sending quotations, handling incoming phone calls and customer enquiries, and managing general office administration. Overall, Tara ensures the smooth day-to-day running of the office while supporting both the customer-facing and behind-the-scenes aspects of the business.

Tara truly loves her job because she gets to work alongside her husband in a business Rhys built from the ground up. Sharing the challenges, supporting each other through the stresses, and celebrating the wins together. It’s a true family-run business that extends beyond just the two of them. Tara works closely with Helen, Rhys’ Mum, who is truly the heart of the operation. The team love seeing the before and after photos of the roofs and projects accomplished. An incredibly rewarding feeling of pride for a job well done.

Tom is Tropical Roofing’s leading hand, often found across most of our projects at any time to keep the team motivated and on track with every project and all things safety. Tom assists with the set-up of a lot of our scaffolding and edge protection installation and ensuring all work is completed to comply with Australian Standards. Tom also assists in quoting jobs and transporting our equipment from our workshop to the site.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about seeing a project through from start to finish—whether it’s restoring a tired old roof or completing a brand-new roof replacement. It’s about creating something solid, lasting, and dependable for our clients.
